In 1965, the company started as Spectrum Corporation, a division of Alco Standard Corporation. Spectrum Corporation’s prime business was school supplies and classroom furniture.
Spectrum Corporation diversified in 1974 when it added the Herman Miller Healthcare line of furniture to service hospitals and healthcare facilities. By the early 1980s it added commercial office furniture with Herman Miller as the main product supplier. Spectrum Corporation had locations in King of Prussia, Pittsburgh and Princeton, New Jersey.
In 1986, the company was purchased and the name changed to Office Pavilion/Spectrum.
In 2001 Spectrum was sold to Herman Miller, Inc., and the company became known as Herman Miller/Spectrum which was renamed Spectrum-A Herman Miller Dealer in 2003.
Today, Spectrum resides in their newly renovated working showroom in King of Prussia, PA. Spectrum has a new state of the art warehouse facility located in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Herman Miller Inc. has a showroom in center city Philadelphia. Spectrum currently services Philadelphia and its suburbs, South Jersey and Delaware. The company has approximately 60 employees.
